Partial Listing of Important Projects that Benefited from either Total System Balance or Full Commissioning by PBC, LLC.

  1. CCF Health Science Project, Cleveland, Ohio
This two hundred million dollar project consisted of research laboratory spaces, lecture halls, office space and nurses training facilities. Environmental temperature, pressure and humidity requirements and tolerances were as precise and stringent for this facility, particularly in the lab spaces, as for nearly any type building.

Early on in our testing work, we determined and concluded that several major supply fans (60,000 CFM each) could not provide the required air at the required static pressure. These fans had to be removed and replaced with greater capacity fans.

Because of our efforts, the replacement of the fans was able to happen quickly and without extended, costly delay in occupancy for the building. This was a Total System Balance Project.

  2. Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland, Ohio
This project consisted of retro-commissioning of eight existing air handling systems (both air and water sides) ranging in size from approximately 5000 CFM to 15,000 CFM. On this project, we worked directly with a design engineering firm with whom we collaborated and to whom we reported the results of our functional performance tests. Subsequently, a redesign and upgrade of the HVAC systems is to be done by the design firm using our report as the benchmark from which new design decisions will be made. This project was a Retro-commissioning job.

  3. Re-Commissioning (1998-99)
    Lubrizol Building 9, Cleveland, Ohio. 4-story (3 + Basement)
    - Dual Duct VAV Supply, 100% O.A. Phoenix valve exhaust from hoods.
    - Survey, document, recalibrate all Barber-Coleman DDC controls, functional test.

  4. Commissioning of New Facilities (1999-2000)
    Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL
    - Commissioning of isolation rooms, ICU rooms, O.R.’s, as well as pumps, chiller and AHU’s.
    - 2 Million square ft. with one 17 story and one 22 story tower.
    - Systems were VAV with RH supply, and variable volume exhaust with Phoenix valves.
    - This work was done during the late phase of construction and included functional tests and TAB verification. Johnson DDC controls.

  5. Commissioning of New (Remodel) Facilities for
Qwest Communications, Newark, NJ in conjunction with Electrol-Test, Inc. (ETI)
    - Pre-functional and functional tests of Liebert units with piggy-back dry-coolers, pumps and glycol systems.
    - Participated in integrated system test (IST).

  6. Qwest Cyber Center, Boston, MA
    - Pre-functional and functional tests of Liebert (30) units with remote dry-coolers, and pumps.

  7. Qwest Cyber Center, Chicago, IL
    - Pre-functional and functional tests of (104) Liebert units, (5) cooling towers, (4) 250 HP and (4) 100HP, condenser and tower water pumps.
    - About 90,000 sq. ft. of raised floor computer space with about 50,000 sq. ft. of equipment, office and support space.
    - 2 Separate IST’s were conducted at this site.

  8. Qwest Cyber Center, Manhattan, NY
    - Similar design to Chicago but much smaller with (36) Lieberts and (7) smaller towers.

  9. Robinson Memorial Hospital, Ravenna, OH (2004)
    - Full commissioning of the HVAC systems, controls and process cooling systems.
